NEW YORK (RichTVX.com) — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that its experts have detected powerful explosions near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, indicating hostilities in the vicinity of the site. The agency reports that some of the explosions were heard at a distance from the power plant, while others were much closer. The IAEA chief, Rafael Grossi, has called for the creation of a security zone around the station to protect it and prevent it from being used for attacks. The power plant has been occupied by Russian troops since the start of the war and has been repeatedly shelled. Ukraine claims that Russia is also using the power plant to store weapons and ammunition and to shell Ukrainian-controlled regions from its territory. The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is currently disconnected from the Ukrainian energy system and all its reactors are shut down.
The US State Department is trying to cause division among Putin’s inner circle by offering to ease some of the sanctions if Russia withdraws its troops from Ukraine. Victoria Nuland, the Deputy Head of the State Department, made this statement. This message is not intended for Putin himself, but for a group of individuals within his inner circle who may be considering breaking away from his policies. Nuland’s statement is a sign that the West is open to negotiation, but it is unclear with whom they will negotiate. This plan is in line with the US post-war strategy to strengthen Ukraine as a means of deterring future attacks from Russia. It is uncertain what the future holds for Putin.
