Swiss Labor Exploitation Drama ‘Enjoy Your Stay’ Premieres in Indonesia

‘Enjoy Your Stay,’ a poignant drama that debuted at the Berlin Film Festival, has been acquired by Indonesian distributor Falcon. The film is set to have its Indonesian premiere at the Jakarta World Cinema. Directed by Dominik Locher, known for his work on ‘Goliath,’ and Filipino filmmaker Honeylyn Joy Alipio, the film explores the harrowing experiences of migrant workers, particularly focusing on the character Luz, an undocumented Filipina cleaner at a luxury ski resort in Switzerland.

The narrative sheds light on the exploitation faced by migrant workers, a theme that resonates with various audiences, especially in Indonesia. The filmmakers expressed hope that their work would speak to the experiences of Indonesian workers abroad, drawing attention to the challenges and injustices they often encounter.

As global cinema increasingly addresses social issues, ‘Enjoy Your Stay’ stands out for its intimate portrayal of the struggles faced by those in precarious employment situations. The film aims to foster understanding and empathy for the plight of migrant workers, highlighting the need for systemic change in labor practices worldwide.

With its premiere at a prominent film festival, the film seeks to engage viewers in critical conversations about labor rights and the human cost of economic disparity. The collaboration between Swiss and Filipino filmmakers adds a unique perspective to the ongoing dialogue surrounding migration and labor exploitation.
