Toei Establishes Generative AI Guidelines, Plans Video Game Releases for 2027

Toei, the renowned Japanese studio known for creating iconic franchises like 'Kamen Rider' and the Super Sentai series, which inspired 'Power Rangers,' has taken significant steps towards integrating generative AI into its operations. During the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) held in Taipei, Toei's president and CEO, Yoshimura Fumio, revealed that the studio has established comprehensive guidelines for the use of generative AI in its film and video production processes. This move reflects a growing trend in the entertainment industry to harness technology for creative endeavors.

The newly formed dedicated team at Toei will oversee the implementation of these AI rules, ensuring that the technology is used responsibly and effectively within the company's projects. This initiative marks a notable shift in how traditional studios approach modern technological advancements, aiming to enhance storytelling and production efficiency.

In addition to its focus on generative AI, Toei has also announced plans to release its first video games by 2027. This expansion into the gaming sector indicates the studio's commitment to diversifying its content offerings and reaching broader audiences across different platforms.

As Toei continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving landscape of entertainment, its efforts in generative AI and video game development could set a precedent for other studios in the industry, potentially reshaping the future of film and interactive media.
