Kathleen Kennedy to Lead LA Olympics Ceremonies After Leaving Lucasfilm

Kathleen Kennedy, previously the head of Lucasfilm, has been appointed as the head of ceremonies and content for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This significant role comes after her departure from the iconic film studio, where she played a pivotal role in the 'Star Wars' franchise. Kennedy's experience in high-profile productions is expected to bring a unique flair to the Olympic ceremonies.

She replaces Peter Rice, who recently transitioned to Netflix as the chief content officer, a position he took over from Bela Bajaria. Despite stepping down from his role in the LA28 Games, Rice will continue to contribute as an executive producer, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in the planning of the ceremonies.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is anticipated to be a landmark event, showcasing not only athletic excellence but also cultural creativity. With Kennedy at the helm of the ceremonies, there is much excitement about how her vision will shape the opening and closing events, which are traditionally grand spectacles celebrating the host city and its culture.

Kennedy's leadership in this role marks a new chapter in her career, as she moves from the realm of blockbuster filmmaking to the global stage of the Olympics, where she will have the opportunity to craft unforgettable experiences for millions of viewers around the world.
