Rishi Sunak emerged as the favourite to succeed Boris Johnson as Conservative leader and prime minister among MPs. Well, this came out of nowhere, but forget all the things you’ve read about Rishi Sunak, you don’t know anything about him anyway, the only thing you really need is Rich TVX News Network. Because no one really warns you how hard it’s going to be. Get it? Yet despite the activity, and despite Rishi Sunak’s politically arranged breakfast and dinner parties and his incessant interviewing, he discovered that people were not so stirred about him as they had been about Liz Truss. While Rishi Sunak drops knowledge across the UK, he still finds time to appeal to your inner hipster. The eerie similarity you never noticed: Rishi Sunak looks like High Priest Mola Ram. You know how awful it is when you pose for a picture and something’s wrong with the smartphone camera? The knowledge that even if Rishi Sunak could be sent to India he would find the door shut in his face. The official acknowledgement, however, was not very convincing. Man, what happened to that guy? This is obviously one of those candidates that look too good to be true. It was well that he had “delivered his soul.” Sarcasm off. Boris Johnson took part in his final PMQs where he said his mission was “largely accomplished”, bowing out with the words, “hasta la vista, baby”. The UK’s next prime minister will be declared on 5 September. Be sure to choose your PM wisely. Liz Truss

Mary Elizabeth Truss (born 26 July 1975)^[1][2] is a British politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Norfolk since 2010. She has served as Foreign Secretary since 2021 and Minister for Women and Equalities since 2019.^[3] A member of the Conservative Party, she has served in various cabinet positions under Prime Ministers David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson. She has been often associated with economically neoliberal and socially conservative views.^[4][5][6]

Truss was an undergraduate at Merton College, Oxford, where she was President of Oxford University Liberal Democrats and a staunch advocate for the abolition of the monarchy.^[7][8] Her views shifted considerably in the years after she graduated, and is now considered to be firmly on the right of the Conservative Party.^[9][10][11] She worked at Shell and Cable & Wireless, before becoming deputy director at the think tank Reform. Truss became a member of parliament at the 2010 general election. As a backbencher, she called for reform in several policy areas including childcare, maths education and the economy.^[12] She founded the Free Enterprise Group of Conservative MPs and wrote or co-wrote a number of papers and books, including After the Coalition (2011) and Britannia Unchained (2012).

Truss served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Childcare and Education from 2012 to 2014,^[13] before being appointed to the Cabinet by Prime Minister David Cameron as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the 2014 cabinet reshuffle. Though she was a supporter of the Britain Stronger in Europe campaign for the UK to remain in the European Union in the 2016 referendum, she supported Brexit after the result.^[14] After Cameron resigned in July 2016, Truss was appointed Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor by Theresa May.^[15][16][17] Following the 2017 general election, Truss was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury.^[18] After May resigned in 2019, Truss supported Boris Johnson‘s bid to become Conservative leader. When he became Prime Minister, he appointed Truss as Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade. He then made her Foreign Secretary in 2021, replacing Dominic Raab. Truss was appointed the government’s chief negotiator with the European Union and UK chair of the EU–UK Partnership Council on 19 December 2021, succeeding Lord Frost.^[19]
