‘La Bola Negra’ Surges to Become Spain’s Third Biggest Spanish Film Ever

Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi’s film, ‘La Bola Negra,’ has made history by becoming the third highest-grossing Spanish film ever at the domestic box office. As of November 1, the film has grossed an estimated €36.7 million (approximately $41.0 million), according to figures from Rentrak.

This impressive box office performance places ‘La Bola Negra’ behind only two other Spanish films: Emilio Martínez-Lázaro’s hit comedy ‘Ocho apellidos vascos’ (Spanish Affair), which earned $61.8 million, and J.A. Bayona’s disaster survival drama.

The film's success is notable not only for its financial achievements but also for its ability to exceed pre-pandemic box office averages by 8%. This trend indicates a strong recovery and growing interest in Spanish cinema as audiences return to theaters.

‘La Bola Negra’ has captivated viewers and critics alike, contributing to a vibrant landscape for Spanish films in the post-pandemic era. Its achievement reflects a broader resurgence in the film industry, as audiences are increasingly eager to experience local storytelling on the big screen.
