From Belgrade to Bootlicking

Aleksandar Vučić’s Moscow Bootlicking: Parade with Putin Risks Serbia’s EU Future

Vučić’s Parade of Shame Threatens Serbia’s European Path

Opposition Leader Sandulović Slams “Fake FSB Report”

Belgrade – Serbia’s authoritarian leader Aleksandar Vučić has once again exposed his true allegiances—not to the Serbian people or democratic values, but to the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin. In a move that reeks of desperation and submission, Vučić is expected to attend Russia’s Victory Day military parade in Moscow on 9 May, effectively declaring loyalty to a regime waging war on European soil.

Serbia’s opposition leader Nikola Sandulović took to Facebook to denounce Vučić’s latest attempt to manipulate public perception. Referring to a so-called “FSB report” that allegedly denies the use of a sound cannon against peaceful protesters on March 15 in Belgrade, Sandulović called the report a “complete fabrication” and a shameful propaganda stunt.

“This is not just a lie—it’s an insult to every citizen who was there, who suffered, and who now watches their president use Russian intelligence as a shield for his brutality,” Sandulović wrote. He demanded an independent investigation by credible Western experts, asking why the FBI, Germany, or France were never invited to assess what actually happened. “Why only the Russian FSB? What did Vučić promise in return for this favor?”

Moscow March: Vučić Chooses Putin Over Europe

As Vučić prepares to walk shoulder to shoulder with Putin through Red Square—under the gaze of tanks and missile launchers—European leaders are issuing stark warnings. Brussels has made it crystal clear: any act of public alignment with Russia, especially now, could result in Serbia’s permanent exclusion from the EU.

“Certain decisions come at a cost,” warned Jonatan Vseviov, Estonia’s Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs. “If Vučić attends this parade, Serbia won’t be joining the European Union. Full stop.”

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas echoed this, calling such a visit “a strategic betrayal of European values.”

Bootlicking Masquerading as Strategy

Diplomats and analysts alike are growing weary of Vučić’s thinly veiled subservience to authoritarianism. One senior EU official, speaking anonymously, compared Vučić’s behavior to “geopolitical bootlicking”—a submissive spectacle dressed up as statecraft.

“It’s not diplomacy—it’s devotion. The man isn’t hedging; he’s kneeling.”

Observers have gone further, suggesting Vučić’s approach is less about strategy and more about fetishizing power. His relationship with Putin mirrors not an alliance of equals, but a disturbing infatuation with autocracy. Serbia’s refusal to impose sanctions on Russia, its energy dependence, and its silence on Ukraine’s suffering all point to one truth: Vučić serves power, not principle.

Aleksandar Vučić

Strategic Cowardice Disguised as Neutrality

Serbia’s balancing act between East and West has reached its breaking point. What Vučić sells as “strategic neutrality” is, in reality, spineless opportunism. While he postures for EU funds, he privately salutes Moscow. His duplicity is dragging Serbia away from the future and deeper into Putin’s shadow.

“This is not ambiguity—it’s complicity,” said Vseviov. “You cannot march with the butcher of Europe and expect a seat at Europe’s table.”

Conclusion: Vučić’s Parade of Shame

By choosing to parade beside Putin, Aleksandar Vučić has shown Serbians and the world exactly who he is: a dictator addicted to power, cloaked in submission, and willing to betray his people for the illusion of strength.

The EU is watching. Serbia’s citizens are watching. And history will not be kind.
